- What are grants?

Grants are direct payment of non profit nature, which the contracting authority (for example EU, Serbia) intends for promotion or for achievement of their goals.

The goals of EU and Serbia in grant allocation are diverse for example competitive economy, stimulating RTD investments, protection of environment, education, etc.

Important: Grants are not tenders – costs are co financed and not market price for activities.

- Programmes co-financed with grants

Grants are attained through public calls in the framework of national and/ or EU programs.

Programmes are divided in centralised and decentralised.

  • Centralised programmes are managed directly by the European Commission; funds are available to all programme member states. Usually projects have to be written in English
  • Decentralised programmes are managed by beneficiary state (EU members, candidate and potential countries), funds are intended to projects managed by national institutions.
